Life As A MOMpreneur Life Glimpse 3
Daily on Instagram I check out Jessica Alba’s Honest Company, Jessica Simpson and Jessica Herrin’s Stella and Dot for motivation to power through this MOMpreneur life. If they can all run huge mom businesses and do it with multiple kids I can too right? Their MOMpreneur journey looks so glamorous and fun!
Here is the one thing that nobody tells you when you are a mom AND you start a business with your own vision, your own money and your endless time.
YOU HAVE TO HAVE VERY TOUGH SKIN!
My first job, I worked for the Indiana Pacers as a telemarketer for $13,000 a year! That random person that calls your phone inquiring if you would like to buy something, that was me. They handed me a yellow pages phone book (yup, getting a little old here) and wished me luck. Then for extra fun they would make you stay and do something called night calls from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm where you would get to put in the time making cold calls to houses while your boss listened in.
After that job, I vowed if I could muster up the courage to do that, I could do anything!
Then I became a MOMpreneur and I am so grateful that I sat for hours making sales calls to complete strangers, as it made me strong. I dreaded it, but it has given me confidence to power through. When you start a company out of your own heart and soul, you literally give birth to a new creation. Every word on ihelpmoms.com website, every photo, every post, every second of every minute I am not with my family, I am pouring my heart and soul into Making Motherhood Easier by connecting the BEST family resources to moms.
As The Honest Mom, I have to tell the truth that there are days like today where the CEO of a kids clothing company tell you that they clicked on your link and they don’t want to work with you. I want them to understand the truth that my site was down for 4 minutes while we rolled out a new exciting MOM VIP deals page upgrade on the site. But, I always make a rule that I don’t make excuses. If they don’t want to work with me because I was down for 4 minutes, that is that. I had another company tell me we hadn’t been around long enough, which was like a knife in my chest.
There is no boss to give you a pep talk, no one to give you another lead, no one to care whether your business succeeds. IT IS ALL YOU. As a MOMpreneur you have to pick yourself back up, tap into your deepest passion to keep going to power through because you know there are millions of moms out there who can use resources to Make Motherhood Easier. I give myself a pep talk to focus on my immense gratitude to work this week with amazing companies like The Brushies, Oohlala Organized and Pillow of Health that are SPECTACULAR!
When the hard hits come, I always remind myself there are thousands of family focused companies that WILL want to join our mission to Make Motherhood Easier. I have no time to feel bad because as a MOMpreneur I have 3 little kids 4 and under that will want my full attention, so I have got to put every ounce of energy into the precious time I have every day to work. I call it MOM STRONG. The will, the passion, the dedication to work for something bigger than yourself.
I click over to IG again to see all of the famous MOMpreneur’s named Jessica and remind myself, it they can do it, I can too! Always stay close to moms that are working hard like you- for inspiration and collaboration! It truly Makes Motherhood Easier to know you are not alone in this MOMpreneur journey!
Cheers to stay at home moms, working moms, work from home moms and all moms!
