I wanted breast implants all my life and now I just want the them to WORK!
All I ever wanted growing up was breast implants.
Tonight however as I yearn to breastfeed and can’t, I realize the true beauty of breasts is to provide nourishment for our babes.
Everyone keeps telling me to relax and that my milk will come in. Let me tell you…telling a mom who is struggling to breastfeed to relax is like telling a toddler not to say the word MINE. It is pointless. Every time someone tells me to relax I get more stressed!
I also think it’s interesting following the Enfamil commercial about the moms judging one another. If mommies feel judged, most likely they are self imposing the judgement…I know I am! Through this experience I could care less who judges me, I just want my baby to be healthy and nourished!
Tonight as my baby starts to whimper from hunger, the despair knowing I don’t have enough milk no longer weighs down on me. Instead, It feels so unnatural to not pull her to my breast. It is what my body wants to do. But I need to feed my baby and to do that I have to turn to bottle feeding.
Never in my life did it ever cross my mind that breastfeeding would not work for me!
I have pumped, I have taken the teas, the pills the liquids, I have changed my diet, got her tongue and lip tie take care of, utilized multiple lactation consultants. I am done grieving and I am so very grateful for all of our resources at ihelpmoms.com.
I want to give a shout out to Spectra USA for their amazing pump that has made pumping to give my baby milk a fantastic experience. What used to take me 30 minutes takes me 5 minutes to pump!!!! I am so grateful to our ihelpmoms.com lactation consultant Sandy Lo for introducing it to me! Spectra USA pumps will be at our Boca Health and Fitness Family Festival, March 28th at Evolution Fitness in Boca, so make sure to come visit their table for more information!
I have learned from this crazy experience that even though I wanted breast implants when I was younger, I have never EVER appreciated my breast more than I do now. I am grateful that they produce milk for my baby. Even if I can’t breastfeed her, I am so amazed that our bodies are created with the ability to provide milk I give thanks every time I pump.
I have taken this challenge and turned it into an opportunity to TALK about breastfeeding, to TALK about milk donors to TALK about the amazing resources on ihelpmoms.com such as Pediatricians, Lactation Consultants, OB/GYNs, Midwives, and Doulas that are dedicated to helping moms like you and I to be encouraged and supported!
