How I Took My Labor and Birth From 18 Hours to 3 Hours
My first pregnancy I took full advantage of being able to eat what I wanted and my desire to work out to stay in shape declined dramatically. Due to these poor decisions, I made labor and delivery hard on myself.
I ended up having an 18 hour labor, a very large baby for my small frame, my recovery was so bad I couldn’t walk for weeks and I caught an infection because my nutrition and health was so off that I had a low functioning immune system. I had a beautiful little girl, but I wasn’t even able to enjoy her much less experience the breast-feeding and bonding that I wanted. Definitely not the blissful experience I wanted!
I knew this second pregnancy, labor and delivery that I wanted to make changes to ensure I had a better experience. I went on a mission to discover how I could have the healthiest pregnancy and birth experience possible. Like anything in life, we can’t sit back and expect changes to just happen. We are in control of making changes.
- I connected with amazing NUTRITIONIST Rachel, mom of two and an incredible source of maximizing your nutrition to meet your goals.
- I registered for HYPNOBIRTH CLASSES to discover how I could stay relaxed and calm during labor to allow my body to open naturally.
I discussed my birth wishes with amazing MIDWIVES and OB/GYNs tapping into their vast knowledge of mother led birth. I wanted an empowering birth experience to bring my second daughter into a peaceful environment.
- I got adjusted at the CHIROPRACTOR to help ensure my baby was in the proper position. I wanted my body to stay in optimal balance for the baby to descend through an aligned birth pelvis and path.
- I made it a priority to work out extra hard BEFORE getting pregnant so my fitness level could stay high throughout my second pregnancy.
- I connected with amazing MOMMYCISE FITNESS, GROOVE ANYWHERE FITNESS, AT HOME FITNESS TRAINERS and MOMS
ON A MISSION to take classes and gain insight on how to maintain a fit pregnancy.
The end result for me this second pregnancy: Thanks to many ihelpmoms.com providers, I had a beautiful, empowering, natural birth. I connected with a part of myself I didn’t even know existed. Something that was so powerful, primal and magnificent that I now know I can tap into to accomplish anything in life. I was 5 cm dilated making my toddlers lunch and getting her things ready for school. Then once she was taken care of I was able to tap into hypnobirthing techniques to feel pressure NOT pain during my birth. It took making the monetary and time investment in Hypnobirth classes, and practicing the techniques daily, but I was able to completely transform labor from pain to pressure.
I continued through the labor staying mobile to keep the baby moving down the ideal birth pathway. The delivery was easy, calm and peaceful just as I desired. I was able to control my perineum myself which was amazing! My new baby girl didn’t cry upon delivery as everything was so peaceful as she entered into the world. We just enjoyed the first moments of her life together and breastfeeding this time around has been a breeze.
This is simply my birth experience of the resources I tapped into to have a better birth experience my second time around. Is this right for every woman? NO! But I do believe that every woman deserves to be educated and empowered throughout their pregnancy, birth and postpartum experience. A 3 hour birth was an amazing experience compared to my first 18 hour delivery. By connecting with ihelpmoms.com providers, I was able to recover faster, bond with my baby easier and develop a fantastic breastfeeding relationship.
My greatest hope is that ihelpmoms.com can be a resource for ALL MOMS to gain access to A WIDE VARIETY of resources such as lactation consultants, OB/BYNs, doulas, midwives, chiropractors, acupuncturists, grocery delivery, food delivery and SO MUCH MORE to allow women to be educated in their birth decisions to experience the pregnancy, labor and birth THEY DESIRE.
