Happy BIRTHday To My Little Girl
It is hard to believe I have a 3 year old.
Every night I peek into her bedroom in absolute awe that this eight pound baby came out of little old me and that she has grown so big. My nightly ritual reminds me that family is truly the only thing that matters in my life. I see her sleeping soundly and I realize that she is my legacy. One day, I will die and everything I have modeled and taught her will remain. She is literally embodies everything I value. Love, health, peace, happiness, intelligence, joy, family.
Every year on her birthday, I celebrate her of course, but I also take a moment to celebrate the sheer miracle of birth. It is truly a magical feeling of looking at your little one on their birthday knowing that the power within your body created, nurtured and brought into the world such a beautiful miracle!!
I feel the magnitude of motherhood is something that is being forgotten as families get busier. The tribes, villages and neighbors that once used to celebrate moms and give them unwavering support have gone to the wayside. It’s actually a HUGE TRAGEDY, as being a mom is LITERALLY the most important job in the world, yet the support system for motherhood has decreased tremendously.
I think mommies should speak less advice and give more food, time, helping hands to moms! I always love giving new moms a massage gift certificate or a grocery delivery certificate or mommy meal delivery along with their baby gifts just to let them know they are celebrated as moms!
It never crossed my mind that my daughters BIRTH day wouldn’t be ALL blissful. I learned all of this the hard way when I moved 3,000 miles away from my family, I had a difficult post partum recovery and I had no idea where to get help. I needed a post partum doula, I needed a Pediatrician to come to the house, I needed a lactation consultant, I needed to get adjusted by our family chiropractor after such a long labor my back hurt!
For moms like me that needed extra support, encouragement and HELP, I want you to know there is a village waiting for you with open arms. There is no judgement, no stress in this village for moms. I created ihelpmoms.com so no mom suffers silently like I did.
The best birthday present I know I can give my daughter is to be happy and healthy FOR HER. Kids pick up on everything we feel and say. They are so intuitive.
