Becoming The Old Mom
As another birthday approaches, the thought about becoming an older mom looms over me. Surprisingly I am actually embracing it and here’s why…
- More Kids Means More Focus.
First time around I signed up for every mommy and me, wanted to make mom friends, and tried to be the ‘perfect’ wife, mom, business owner. At this point in my life now years later, every ounce of my energy is absolutely dedicated to my two little munchkins and my husband, which means to get everything done I have to prioritize what is important so I don’t get burned out. I just don’t have the energy for drama, or anything that wastes my time, energy or money! Family, Fitness, Fun with Friends and ihelpmoms.com are my priorities.
- Stop Judging, Start Loving.
As a first time mom I felt judged for my decisions and I constantly judged myself Most laughable of all, I thought I knew it all from all the parenting books I read! Nowadays I just want to celebrate fellow moms, love my kids, enjoy my amazing husband everyday and recognize that we are all doing our very best as we journey through motherhood. I love this quote I heard, “I don’t care what you do in your life, but just don’t mistake drama for happiness” ~Ron Swanson. Wouldn’t it be great if all moms smiled at one another, said good morning and just connected in kindness more? Lets do it.
- We All Have STUFF.
When I had my first daughter it was stressful. I was sleep deprived, I literally couldn’t figure out how to juggle cooking, cleaning, breastfeeding, being a wife, getting out of the house quickly, even admittedly showering!!! Becoming the older mom however I realize that ALL MOMS HAVE TOUGH STUFF THEY GO THROUGH and it is an absolute waste of time to complain or compare.
- The greatest thing I have learned over the last 5 years is to figure out what makes me truly happy, so I can be the best mom, wife and friend I can be. We can all use some help as moms, so make sure to connect to our mommy coaches and therapists to find your happy self!
Thanks to ihelpmoms.com providers getting older has been really good! Over the years, I have been able to find trusted resources to keep my family healthy and happy such as great preschools, fitness trainers, Pediatricians, Midwives, Doulas, Mommy Therapists, Mommy and Me classes, Chiropractors, Swim Lessons and more!
Cheers to becoming the older mom!
