38 Weeks Pregnant and Hungry
My shopping trip today at 38 weeks pregnant went something like this: I wonder who is going to take care of feeding my continually hungry toddler while I take care of our new baby. I spot roasted chickens in the deli. YES! I will just make sure to tell anyone who asks what to bring to grab one of those!
Cinnamon rolls with thick, gooey frosting sounds so unbelievably good. I want to just sit on the couch and eat that entire bakery tray of them. I can hear my pancreas saying walk away from the cinnamon rolls Michelle. Walk away from the cinnamon rolls. They will not help give you healthy energy to give birth. Dang, Dang, Dang!
I keep getting leg cramps. I definitely need some bananas. Ohhhh yogurt covered pretzels! (Walk right past the bananas to grab the pretzels) I will tell myself these are somehow healthy since I avoided butter cream frosting cinnamon rolls.
Vanilla protein shakes. YUM. I am drinking these day and night. They have one. One!? So much for that craving.
I should get some shrimp, but the Diners Drive Ins and Dives episode I watched last night has me craving Mexican. Forgetting the shrimp I veer into the ethnic foods aisle to grab tortillas, salsa, black beans and olives. When did shredded cheese become $5 a bag? Forget cheese. I don’t want a whole block and I am not paying $5! But cheese sounds SO good. I am not paying $5!
Oh my gosh those Hostess Donuts look amazing. Eggs Michelle. Think protein. Focus on the eggs. Ohhhhh bagels and cream cheese. Delicious, YES! But a good idea for sustainable energy for labor…NO! Dang.
What did I come for again? Oh yeah. Beef Stock for soup tonight. Mission accomplished I think….
